Anwar R Tappuni is the Academic Lead for Oral Medicine at the Institute of Dentistry, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

She is the founder and Director of the QMUL Master in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Medicine, the first programme of its kind in the UK. She is a Member of the QMUL Senate, Research Ethical Committee and the School of Medicine and Dentistry Professional Capabilities and Fitness to Practice Boards.

She is the founder and first president for the Iraqi Division of IADR (IAOR) 2010. She put the foundations of the division and organised First and Second IAOR Scientific Meettings, 2012 and 2013 in London UK and 2016 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

She is, also, is the founder and Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Oral and Dental Research, Member of the Editorial Board of the highest impact factor dental journal; Journal of Dental Research, Member of the Specialty Advisory Board for Oral Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England Examination Board for Diploma in Special Care Dentistry, in addition to many national and international roles and duties.
